This pistol, serial number 264701, falls within the earliest production block of the Sauer 38H, which began in late 1938 or early 1939. It bears the Crown over N proof mark, a pre-war German commercial proof indicating proofing for smokeless powder.
The original finish is estimated at 80–85% condition, with scattered patina and areas of bluing wear. Most of the finish loss is concentrated on the slide, trigger guard, front strap, and back strap. The frame and slide retain matching serial numbers.
The bore is exceptionally clean and rates approximately 9 out of 10. The pistol is fully functional and qualifies as a Curio & Relic (C&R) firearm.
